Travel through time and explore the history of Midland County at Heritage Park – a unique combination of state-of-the-art archival and multi-purpose facilities in a pleasant campus setting, close to downtown Midland and located less than a mile from Midland Center for the Arts. Heritage Park encompasses these facilities, all within walking distance of each other: HERBERT D. DOAN MIDLAND COUNTY HISTORY CENTER The Herbert D. Doan Midland County History Center is the gateway to Heritage Park. It houses a permanent hands-on gallery of interactive exhibits of Midland County history, from the beginning to today; a gallery of featured exhibitions; a research library for local and general history; and an archival collection of Midland County artifacts. HERBERT H. DOW HISTORICAL MUSEUM The Herbert H. Dow Historical Museum has multi-media exhibits that provide a fascinating look at the birth of Midland’s largest business and the evolution of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. 1874 BRADLEY HOME The 1874 Bradley Home is a beautifully restored hands-on historic house museum where visitors enjoy a glimpse of the everyday life of an early Midland Family. The adjacent Carriage House features a collection of horse-drawn carriages and sleighs, and is home to mid-Michigan’s largest functioning blacksmith shop. CARRIAGE HOUSE The Carriage House features a collection of horse-drawn carriages and sleighs, and is home to mid-Michigan’s largest functioning blacksmith’s shop, where volunteer smiths turn red-hot iron into beautiful works of art.
