Currie Municipal Golf Course is a complete golf complex comprised of an 18-hole course, a 9-hole course, a 9-hole par 3 course, a driving range and two clubhouses. Currie West is the newest 18 hole layout at the Currie Municipal Golf Complex. It is a modern design that rivals many of Michigan’s top resort courses. It began as a 9 hole layout that was expanded to 18 holes in 2002. Designed by Michigan golf course architect, Jerry Mathews of Natural Golf Design, the course features a complete redesign of the original 9-hole layout and a new front nine carved out of the naturally wooded landscape between M-20 and the Tittabawassee River in the city of Midland. With its five tee boxes, Currie West can accommodate the skills of the casual golfer as well as provide a challenge from the back tees for the low handicapper. After a round, one can enjoy the spectacular view of the 9th hole on the deck of the beautiful West Clubhouse. Currie East is a 9-hole layout designed and constructed by Mr. Gilbert Currie, the man for whom Currie Municipal Golf Course is named. Mr. Currie’s vision was to provide a reasonably priced, beautifully designed course for all citizens to enjoy. The front nine has been closed to accommodate the new (2015) Driving Range. The layout and conditions of Currie East are generally representative of comparable courses in the region with three tee boxes and an average course and slope rating, which can accommodate all skill levels. Currie Par 3: This unique facility provides a great experience for young and old alike who are taking up the game of golf for the first time, or an opportunity to improve the short game for the experienced golfer. With its convenient location, the Currie Par 3 Course – combined with the driving range, practice bunker, and practice putting green – offers the golfer a true complete practice facility as well as a great opportunity for family fun.
