The City of Essexville formed its Downtown Development Authority (DDA) in September 1988 under the authority of Act 197, Public Acts of 1975. The mission of the DDA is to promote orderly economic growth within the Downtown Development District. The DDA Board members also serve as the City's Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. Since its inception the DDA has provided funding for the reconstruction of Woodside Avenue (which is the City's principal commercial corridor) and other street projects critical to the City's commercial transportation, the purchase of several blighted properties for future redevelopment and expansion of existing businesses, the retrofit of a former truck maintenance facility for use as the City's Department of Public Works Maintenance and Operations Center, the redevelopment of Smith Park and for critical infrastructure to develop the Essexville Business/Commerce Park. Our office hours are Mon-Fri from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
